Know about Swami Dayanand Saraswati…
Swami Dayanand Saraswati was born on 12 February 1824 in Tankara, Gujarat. His father’s name was Karshanji Lalji Tiwari and mother’s name was Yashodabai. Swami Dayanand Saraswati belonged to a Brahmin family. Being from a Brahmin family, he often used to watch worship in his house. But one day something happened due to which he opposed idol worship. In fact, on the day of Shivratri as a child, Swami Dayanand’s entire family was staying in a temple for night awakening and his entire family slept that day, even then he was awake. He was waiting that the prasad offered to Lord Shiva would be accepted by him himself.

After some time he saw that the rats were eating the prasad kept for Shiva. Seeing this they were very surprised and started thinking that the God who cannot protect the offerings offered to himself, what will he save humanity? On this he argued with his father and argued that we should not worship such a ‘helpless God’.

Not at all that he only questioned the things of his religion, but he strongly denied the evils spread in Christianity and Islam. In his great book Satyarth Prakash, he has refuted the evils prevailing in all the faiths. He traveled across the country to propagate the Vedas and to explain their importance to the people.

Maharishi Dayanand criticized the social evils and superstitions prevailing in the then society and tried to remove them fearlessly. He opposed the caste given by birth and talked about the determination of caste on the basis of karma. Dayanand was in favor of Dalit reform. He had started a strong movement for the education of women. He founded the Arya Samaj on April 10, 1875 in Girgaum, Mumbai. Because of these works, people call him ‘sannyasi warrior’.
