Government has revised policy on issuing NOC for selling international roaming SIM cards

The telecom department has revised the policy on issuance and renewal of no objection certificate (NOC) for sale or rent of international roaming SIM cards and global calling cards of foreign operators in India. Government Revises Policy

The revised policy mandates NOC holders to make provision for providing information regarding customer care service, contact details, escalation matrix, itemised bills, information related to tariff plans as well as services offered.

The revised policy aims to protect interest of Indians traveling aboard and also streamline the procedures in line with the other licenses and registrations, the telecom ministry said in a statement. Government Revises Policy On International Roaming

Provision has also been made to strengthen billing and consumer grievance redressal mechanism to facilitate time bound resolution of grievance by the NOC holders with provision for appellate authority in the department, it said.

The revised policy came into effect from January 14, 2022 and it was formulated after deliberations on the suo-motu recommendations of the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) on sale or rent of international roaming SIM cards, global calling cards of foreign operators in India.
